GRAND SLAM: Schaefer has competed in 17 grand slam events and is 19th in earnings ($28,125). Schaefer and Patty Dodd were third at the 1996 Nationals. Schaefer and Krista Blomquist were third at the 1997 Nationals. Schaefer was fifth at the 1994 U. S. Open with Kengy Gardiner. Schaefer and Karrie Poppinga were fifth at the U. S. Open and sixth at the shootout in 1996. Schaefer posted a fourth in the 1996 Best of the Beach with Patty Dodd.

COLLEGE: Schaefer is a 1990 graduate of the University of Minnesota where she was an All-American volleyball player. She was the school's 1989 leadership award winner. She was on the winning team at the 1991 Olympic Festival.
HIGH SCHOOL: Schaefer played volleyball at St. Henry in Florence. She was the state's player of the year in 1985.
PERSONAL: Schaefer's parents are Mike and Anne Schaefer. She has two brother (Tony and Jay) and one sister (Stephanie). Her hobbies are camping, horseback riding and water skiing. Tom Apke, her mother's brother, coached basketball at Creighton, Colorado and Appalachian State. She was a spokesperson for the Coors Light Brand at the Coors Brewing Co. and has done commentary on Minnesota Volleyball. She is a director for the WPVA board.
