By offering junior tour participants an elite competition experience at AVP venues and the experience to meet with AVP players, it is the AVP's intention to cultivate a new group of beach volleyball participants, life-long AVP fans, and ultimately, distingush future elite beach volleyball athletes.
The Speedo/AVP Junior Tour will be comprised of seven events in 1998, with the winning teams from both boys and girls age groups (15 and under and 18 and under) earning the right to compete in the Junior Tour National Championships to be staged at Hermosa Beach on August 14-16.
Winners of each division will earn the title of Speedo/AVP Junior Tour National Champion and thereby earn spots on the United States Junior Olympic Volleyball Team.
Staged in cooperation with USA Volleyball and their regional representatives, the Junior Tour provides a breeding Ground for up-and-coming elite beach volleyball players who will representd the United States in future intenational competitions.
Finalists from one division at each event will be selected to play their final match on the AVP center court prior to the final AVP tournament match. For information, call USA Volleyball at (888) US -Volley or to the AVP at (310) 577-0775.
